The team analyst is responsible for video and statistical analysis to aid with preparation for the men’s first and second teams and the boys’ academy and is assisted by a number of interns.
Luke will report to director of cricket, Keith Greenfield and work closely with head coach Jason Gillespie, Swift, second team coach Mike Yardy and boys’ academy director Richard Halsall.
The 23-year-old graduate of the University of Hertfordshire spent a year with the club on placement from May 2015. He returned for a second year at The 1st Central County Ground in 2017 as part of his masters degree in Sports Performance Analysis at the University of Chichester.
Reacting to his appointment, Luke said: “'I am delighted to be at Sussex for another year. Being local, I have always loved the club, so I guess I can say it's a dream come true to work here.
“I hope to bring the analysis department to best-in-class status from the first team through to the youth age groups and am really thankful to Keith Greenfield and the rest of the senior coaching staff in the belief they have shown in me to achieve this and build on the successes of last season.”
Keith Greenfield added: “Since Jason’s [Swift] promotion, Luke has filled the analyst role on an interim basis. He has shown us his ability to manage the department and has already implemented key changes to link all aspects of our cricket pathway from top to bottom.
“He therefore fully deserves this opportunity to continue the work he has started.”
