Introducing new Strength & Conditioning coach, David McIlwaine

10 Nov 2017

Sussex Cricket would like to extend a warm welcome to new Strength and Conditioning Coach, David McIlwaine.

David fills the vacancy left by predecessor Rob Chave, and as such his work for Sussex will focus on the girls’ Academy and Elite Player Pathway (EPP) as well as the boys’ Elite Development Group (EDG).

He will also assist with other areas of the Performance Cricket Department, including the men’s first team.

The other part of David’s job sees him working at Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA) where he is the strength and conditioning coach for the Aldridge Cricket Academy, with which Sussex Cricket has close ties.

David is a graduate of the strength and conditioning Masters programme at Leeds Beckett University, having completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Ulster.

He managed to combine his studies with a previous career as a professional rugby union player, playing for Ulster, Bristol, Doncaster Knights and Leeds Carnegie.
