Sussex play their final match of the 2019 Royal London Women’s One-Day Championship against Kent at The Spitfire Ground, Canterbury on Sunday.
Kent have already been crowned county champions, while fifth-placed Sussex find themselves in a very densely packed mid-table, nine points off second but also 13 points above the relegation zone.
England call-ups mean that Freya Davies, Linsey Smith, Sarah Taylor and Danni Wyatt are unavailable for Sussex, but there is a return to the squad for experienced international Georgia Elwiss, as well as for Ellen Burt, Hollie Young and Ella Wadey.
In Nancy Harman, Sussex have the third highest wicket-taker in the country. The leg-spinner now has 13 wickets.
Sunday’s hosts have a one hundred percent record in this year’s tournament, although they too will be denied their England internationals this weekend. That could prove costly, with Tammy Beaumont and Fran Wilson Kent’s leading run scorers in the tournament.
They will still have their leading wicket-taker Megan Belt, however. The off-spinner has taken 12 wickets so far this season.
Looking ahead to the game, Sussex Women’s head coach Alexia Walker said: “As we approach the final match of the Royal London One Day Competition we are looking to finish on a high against our local rivals.
“Both teams will be without England players but we are delighted to welcome Georgia Elwiss in to the side as she continues her comeback from injury. All the players are excited about playing at The Spitfire Ground, Canterbury for our final 50 over match before the T20 season starts the following week.”
Play begins at 11am.
