Sussex Cricket are delighted to announce the appointment of Gary Wallis-Tayler as interim Head of Community Cricket.
Gary has been with Sussex Cricket for 12 years, progressing from a Cricket Development Administrator to his current role as Territory Manager, covering the south region of our county and being part of the community cricket leadership team.
He also leads on our partnership with Chance to Shine, covering schools, Street Cricket, and our schools competition structure, and oversees work with the Sussex Association of Groundsmen.
Gary, who will be covering the role until at least the end of August, when the club will be looking to fill the role on a permanent basis once things return to normality, said: “I am extremely proud to be asked to become Interim Head of Community Cricket at Sussex Cricket.
“The opportunity to inspire the next generation of cricketers, support our communities and work with key partners is something that inspires me.
“I am determined to steer the department out of the difficult current climate and get the county back out playing cricket as soon as possible.
“Having worked at the club for 12 years and supported them from a young age, this is a dream come true. I am excited at the challenges ahead and look forward to building upon Chris’ legacy.”
Gary will be replacing Chris Coleman, who has been with the club for over two years and has overseen significant changes within the community department, including the formation of The 1st Central Sussex Cricket League, the introduction of the Territory Manager structure, the expansion of our Women and Girls programme and increased and improved schools delivery.
The club would like to thank Chris for the superb work he has done at Sussex Cricket since his arrival in January 2018, and would like to wish him luck in his new role as Director of Participation at Surrey Cricket Foundation.
We would also like to wish Gary all the best as he begins his new role on Monday.
