Sussex Women's Danni Wyatt was the stand-out performer overnight as England Women started their T20 World Cup preparations with a 47-run win over an ACT XI in Canberra.
Wyatt continued her excellent form with 77 off 44 balls from the top of the order, with nine fours and two sixes helping England set their opponents 192 to win.
In reply, the ACT XI scored 149 from their 20 overs, with Anya Shrubsole taking three wickets for the tourists, and the spin duo of Sophie Ecclestone and Sarah Glenn going at a combined rate of under five an over from their six overs.
Speaking after the match, Heather Knight said: "It was a good test. Nat [Sciver] and Danni had a really good partnership up top – Danni continued her form of the last 18 months and Nat was really good, as well.
"We’re only three days off the plane so it was good to see that we’ve got the jet-lag out of the system and there’s quite a quick turnaround between games in the tri-series so that’s a good start."
England play India at the Manuka Oval on Friday January 31 in the first game of the tri-series, before going up against Australia at the same venue on Saturday February 1.
Lisa Keightley's side start their World Cup campaign on February 23, before a busy summer schedule sees them visit The 1st Central County Ground twice to take on both India and South Africa. You can register your interest in those fixtures now to get priority access to tickets!
