Sussex Cricket is delighted to announce that Ari Karvelas has signed a contract extension with the Club.
Ari made is first-team debut at Lord's in the LV= Insurance County Championship in 2022 against Middlesex, taking 2-72 from his 23.5 overs and making 57 with the bat to help Sussex secure a draw at the Home of Cricket.
His impact on the side continued into the 50-over format that season as he finished as our top wicket-taker in the Royal London Cup with 20 wickets, at an economy of 5.40.
Ari’s best figures in the competition came after a devastating spell which saw him finish on 4-21 against the Leicestershire Foxes at The 1st Central County Ground.
After suffering a knee injury at the end of the 2022 season, Ari spent the winter in rehabilitation, however he returned to the Sussex 2nd XI in emphatic style last month taking four wickets against Hampshire 2nd XI, earning himself a return to the first team squad for the game against Gloucestershire last week.
Speaking on the extension, Ari said: “It’s a really exciting time for me to be at Sussex and be a part of the team we have, as well as playing the brand of cricket we play, which is all aimed at winning.
“I can’t wait to keep wining for Sussex, it is an amazing County and The 1st Central County Ground is an amazing place to play so I’m looking forward to calling it my home for the foreseeable future.”
Sussex Head Coach, Paul Farbrace added: “Ari has impressed me in my short time at the Club and I love his attitude.
“He looks like a bowler who can take wickets in all conditions, and I am delighted he has committed to another two years here at Hove.”
