We host nine business networking events over the year, with the majority against a backdrop of first-class cricket. Each event includes a 20-minute discussion from a keynote speaker followed by a Q&A.

Thursday 23rd March v Hampshire - Pre-Season Friendly

A conversation with Paul Farbrace: Listen and participate in a Q&A session with new Sussex Head Coach, Paul Farbrace. Hear from Paul about his experiences at managing teams the highest international level, including Sri Lanka and England, as well as his thoughts on what is set to be a hugely exciting summer at The 1st Central County Ground.

Thursday 20th April v Yorkshire – Day 1

Keynote speaker: Matthew Phelan, CEO of The Happiness Index and author of Freedom To Be Happy: The Business Case for Happiness

Thursday 18th May v Glamorgan – Day 1

Keynote speaker: Elise Downing is an ambassador for The North Face. In 2016, she became the first woman and youngest person to run 5,000 miles around the coast of Britain. In 2021 ‘Coasting’, her best-selling book about the experience, was published and went on to be named as one of The Times Best Sports Books of 2021.

Tuesday 13th June v Worcestershire – Day 3

Keynote speaker: Commodore Duncan Lustig-Prean “One of the most influential naval officers in the last 50 years”. Duncan is an advocate for military LGBTQ+ rights having successfully changed acts of parliament and legislation on three separate occasions. Duncan is now the Director and Trustee for Brighton Fringe.

Wednesday 12th July v Derbyshire – Day 3

Keynote speaker: Sophie Cook is a writer, speaker, actor, broadcaster, photographer, LGBT & mental health campaigner, Hon Doctor of Letters, RAF veteran…oh, and transgender. Dr Sophie Cook became the first transgender woman to work in football’s Premier League as club photographer for AFC Bournemouth following her transition from Steve to Sophie in the summer of 2015.

Tuesday 1st August v Buckinghamshire – National Counties

Keynote speaker: Lewis Wedlock is an activist, academic and social psychologist. His work centres around exploring and challenging structures including racism and masculinity. He is currently one of the UK’s youngest lecturers.

Tuesday 12th September v Leicestershire – Day 3

Keynote speaker: Matt Garman is a business owner, having bought and sold two tech companies, an author, and an adventurer; just back from leading a 3-person team, rowing 3000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean. Matt illustrates what he has learnt about himself, leadership, limits of endurance, the value of teamwork, setting achievable goals and how to avoid repeating the same mistakes by facing them head-on.

Thursday 19th October

Keynote speaker: Leanne Spencer is an award-winning entrepreneur and wellbeing speaker on stress management, burnout prevention, recovery and resilience.
