David Wiese retained by Lahore Qalandars ahead of PSL draft

1 Dec 2019

David Wiese has been retained by Lahore Qalandars ahead of next week’s Pakistan Super League draft.

The Sussex all-rounder was retained in the ‘diamond’ category and was one of seven players re-signed the outfit for the 2020 edition of the tournament.

Each of the six PSL teams were able hold on to a maximum of eight players that had represented them in this year’s 2019.

Ravi Bopara, Laurie Evans, Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills and Phil Salt were part of PSL teams this year, but have been released into the pool for the draft that takes place on Friday 6th December.

They will be joined by Sussex teammates Danny Briggs, George Garton, Ollie Robinson and Luke Wright, who have also made themselves available for selection.

Jordan has registered in the top ‘platinum’ category, Bopara, Evans, Mills, Salt and Wright in the ‘diamond’ second-tier and Briggs, Garton and Robinson in the ‘gold’ third-tier.

Platinum players that are selected by one of the six teams will receive the equivalent of between £114k and £169k; diamond players between £57k and £79k, gold players between £34k to £44k and silver players between £12k and £27k.

There is also an emerging players category (£5k to £7.5k) but this is reserved for local players.
