A further six Sussex players have registered for selection in the next edition of the Pakistan Super League.
Ravi Bopara, Laurie Evans, Tymal Mills, Phil Salt, David Wiese and Luke Wright have all made themselves available as ‘diamond’ category picks. Chris Jordan was announced as having registered as a ‘platinum’ player yesterday.
As he was not involved in this year’s competition, Wright will go straight into next month’s draft. That is scheduled for Friday 6th and Saturday 7th December.
Bopara, Evans, Jordan, Mills, Salt and Wiese were part of PSL squads in the tournament’s previous edition and so can now either be retained, traded or released into the draft pool by their sides.
Registration for the draft remains open until Thursday 21st November and players can enter one of five categories: platinum, diamond, gold, silver and emerging.
Each of the six PSL teams will need to finish the draft with a minimum squad of 16 and a maximum squad of 18, of which either five or six players must be from overseas.
Ahead of the draft, each of the six PSL teams can retain up to eight players that were part of their squads during the 2019 tournament
Bopara played for Karachi Kings, Evans for Multan Sultans, Jordan and Mills for Peshawar Zalmi, Salt for Islamabad United and Wiese for Lahore Qalandars in that edition. Quetta Gladiators are the other team that plays in the Pakistan Super League.
The lists of players that have registered in gold, platinum and emerging categories are set to be released in the coming days.
