Vote for your 2026 Dentalbuild Players of the Year

The season is hastily winding to a close and so it's time for you to cast your vote ahead of this year's End of Season Awards, featuring players from both Sussex Men and Sussex Women.

At the bottom of this article is where you can vote. The polls will close at 10am this coming Friday, 25th September ahead of next month's ceremony. 

The nominations for the Men's Team (red ball):

Ollie Robinson

Commencing the campaign as captain and finishing it by becoming the Test bowler of the summer; Ollie Robinson earned his call-up back to the England setup ahead of the first Test against New Zealand in early June, and went on to take 28 wickets at an incredible average of 9.32 in his four games against New Zealand and Pakistan. In the County Championship, though, he was similarly ruthless, taking 18 wickets in the six matches he played, with figures of 5/42 in the season opener at Leicestershire to get his year up and running. 

Henry Crocombe

At the time of writing Henry Crocombe has taken 40 wickets in Division One this year at an average of 23.52. He bowls fast, and undoubtedly accurate. Crocombe joined an elite club by taking hat-tricks in consecutive red ball matches, first against Somerset and then at Essex. Career-best match figures of 9-69 against Leicestershire came this year, too, as he was soon drafted in to the England's squad for their second Test against New Zealand as injury cover for Sussex teammate Robinson, and now has a fresh call-up into the ODI squad. 

Dan Hughes

Leading the line with the bat as Sussex's leading run scorer in Division One this season, Hughes has enjoyed a brilliant year out in the middle, and has looked stylish, too. 746 runs thus far come at an average of 37.30 - another fine season for the Australian overseas top-order batter who continues to shine. Two centuries and a High Score of 136, it's safe to say Hughes enjoys his cricket at Hove.

Dan Hughes

It's not purely the red ball he's enjoyed thwacking to the rope this campaign, for in the Vitality Blast Hughes was outstanding at the top of the order. His 438 runs were again the most out of any Sussex player, and his top-score of 108* was one of the finest T20 innings around. To transfer that run scoring ability to the short-form game is difficult, but Hughes has shown his capabilities in all formats time and time again. 

Charlie Tear

Whilst Hughes was the leading run scorer for Sussex in the County Championship and Vitality Blast, 22-year-old Charlie Tear was comfortably the Sharks' finest player with the bat in the One Day Cup. 379 runs in a breakout year for the young wicket-keeper-batter at an impressive average of 47.37, Tear recorded two brilliant centuries and a High Score of 118. It may not have been the most successful of tournaments for the Sharks in terms of results, but Tear was an exceptional shining light throughout.

Tymal Mills

The leading wicket-taker in the Vitality Blast for the Sharks with 16 to his name, Mills enjoyed another strong season with the white ball in hand as he continued his captaincy of the T20 side. Featuring in all 12 matches and bowling in the most critical moments, Mills showed his class once again on a number of occasions, most notably when he claimed figures of 3/28 against Kent in a winning effort at Hove.

The nominations for the Women's Team (T20 Blast):

Mollie Adams

For Mollie Adams her Vitality Blast campaign was little short of immaculate: four times the young wicket-keeper-batter passed fifty in what was a confident and highly laudable season. Her 304 runs were the third-most out of any player in the competition, with an impressive average of 38. A High Score of 80 off just 59 deliveries in the Sharks' extremely narrow defeat to soon-to-be Tier 1 outfit Glamorgan demonstrated her potential and brilliance once again, and with the gloves Adams continues to improve behind the stumps.

Chiara Green

An excellent Vitality Blast in all aspects, Chiara Green was strong with the bat but brilliant with the ball, claiming eight wickets overall but coming away from the emphatic victory over Gloucestershire with ridiculous figures of 4/8. There were plenty of close-run games this season, but to see the progress the players are making under Green's captaincy is unquestionably clear.

Bella Johnson

Despite being the joint-leading player with the most catches in the Blast this season, it was more for Bella Johnson's all-round attributes that earned her this nomination. The 91 runs scored in the seven matches she featured in were critical, while the eight wickets taken came an important moments. Her innings of 31* off 22 balls, and also taking two wickets, were utterly imperative to ensuring the Sharks came away from Northampton with the victory.

The nominations for the Women's Team (One Day Cup):

Nancy Harman

When Nancy Harman gets going with the bat, she rarely stops. Six times has she featured for the Sharks in the One Day Cup this year, and on four occasions she has scored 90 runs or more. In her last three outings for Sussex, she recorded innings of 113 (89), 90 (73) and 91 (82). Two of her scores were 0 and 1 whilst, sandwiched in between, her High Score of the season: 124 off 94 deliveries. Absolutely explosive hitting from Harman this campaign.

Phoebe Wilkinson

Featuring in all-but one One Day Cup fixture this year, it was another strong year for Phoebe Wilkinson with the bat atop the Sharks' batting lineup. 311 runs off the bat come at an average of 44.43, and on three occasions the steady yet stylish batter passed fifty, with a High Score of 88 in an important win at Northamptonshire. A highly laudable campaign for Wilkinson, who continues to develop with each passing year.

Izzy Collis

Another batter in the hat for this year's One Day Cup Player of the Year, Izzy Collis has enjoyed a highly successful year out in the middle alongside her fellow nominees. Following up her first innings score of 1 on the opening day of the campaign with a mammoth total of 133 off 136 deliveries the game following, Collis has been a consistent mainstay in the side for a number of years now, and for good reason. Earning her gold Sussex cap just a few weeks ago, she is a genuine leader on and off the field, and can head into the winter months with a smile following another strong season with the Sharks.
