Wickets for Jofra Archer & Chris Jordan in England intra-squad warm-up

23 Nov 2020

Sussex’s Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan were in the wickets during England’s intra-squad warm-up match in Cape Town on Saturday.

The 40-over game took place in preparation for England’s forthcoming T20 and ODI series against South Africa, with Jofra and CJ both playing for the side led by Jos Buttler against an opposition skippered by Eoin Morgan.

Team Buttler batted first and were all out for 255 in 39.1 overs. Batting at eight and nine respectively, CJ scored six from five deliveries and Jofra 13 from 11 balls.

CJ was caught by Ben Stokes off the bowling of Tom Curran, who was the pick of the Team Morgan bowlers, finishing with 4 for 25 from 6.1 overs. Joe Root and Sam Billings both made half-centuries for Buttler’s side.

In reply, Morgan’s men were dismissed for 205 from 35.5 overs, with Chris Woakes top-scoring with 55 from 41 balls.

Jordan took 2 for 35 from seven overs, dismissing Morgan and Lancashire’s Liam Livingstone.

Archer struck with the new ball, having Somerset’s Tom Banton caught behind for 10 on his way to miserly figures of 1 for 11 off four overs.

A further intra-squad warm-up – a T20 - will take place on Monday afternoon.
