Sussex made it three wins from four in this year’s Second Eleven T20 competition with two wins against Glamorgan at Horsham on Monday.
In the day’s first game, runs for Luke Wright (45 off 30) and Harry Finch (42 off 30) and a late cameo by Nick Oxley saw Sussex to 151 for 8 having been asked to bat first by the visitors.
Three wickets for just 19 runs for Ish Sohi and an economical four overs from captain Tom Haines helped bowl Glamorgan out for 138, giving Sussex victory by 13 runs. Reese Topley, Elliot Hooper and Nick Oxley took two wickets each.
Sussex won the toss and made an imposing 202 for 4 batting first in the afternoon fixture. Haines hit 72 from 53 balls at the top of the order, combining with Brad Gilmour – who smashed a devastating unbeaten 35-ball 74 – to add 99 in 53 balls for the fourth wicket.
Glamorgan were on course to pull off a brilliant chase at 173 for 3 with 20 balls remaining, before Tymal Mills (2 for 28) and Joe Sarro (3 for 31) returned to the attack and blew away the lower order.
Glamorgan finished on 191 for 9, 12 runs short of their target. Haines (2 for 33) and Gilmour (1 for 27) were the other wicket takers.
The seconds start a three-day Second Eleven Championship match against Glamorgan at the same venue today.
