A squad of twelve has been announced for Sussex Women’s opening two fixtures in the Royal London Women’s One-Day Championship over the bank holiday weekend.
Sussex play Derbyshire at The Sir Rod Aldridge Cricket Centre at Brighton Aldridge Community Academy on Sunday.
They then make the short trip inland to The Blackstone Academy Ground, sponsored by Hurstpierpoint College for another home match against Northamptonshire on Sunday.
The Sussex squad includes three England stars in Georgia Elwiss, Sarah Taylor and Danni Wyatt.
Fast-bowler Ellen Burt is unavailable after suffering a blow to the head during the recently concluded England Academy tour to South Africa.
Looking ahead to the start of a new season, Sussex captain Georgia Adams said: “After a busy winter, I am very excited to kick start the season this weekend with our first game at our home ground the Sir Rod Aldridge Cricket Centre.
“As a team unit we are the strongest we have ever been and our work ethic has been extremely high over the winter period. I know we will play some brilliant games of cricket this summer and I’m excited to get out on the pitch and see how our hard work pays off.”
Sunday and Monday’s matches both get underway at 11am and entry is free.
