Rashid Khan – Sussex Sharks’ overseas signing for this summer’s Vitality Blast – was named man of the match for his superb bowling performance during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s win over Mumbai Indian in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday night.
The Afghan leg-spinner conceded just 13 runs from his four overs. That included 18 dot balls, a new record for the IPL.
Rashid also picked up the wicket Ben Cutting, bowling the Australian with one of his trademark googlies.
Rashid’s performance helped restrict Mumbai to 147-8 and proved crucial as Sunrisers sneaked home by one wicket.
Rashid has enjoyed a good couple of days. His performance on Thursday was preceded by his anointment as Wisden’s T20 Player of the Year on Wednesday.
He’s next in action for Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday when they take on Kolkata Knight Riders.
