Sussex welcome Loughborough students to Hove for first-class curtain-raiser

Cricket’s equivalent of freshers’ week starts tomorrow, with seven counties playing the students of the various MCC universities sides.

Sussex’s class of 2018 are taking on Loughborough MCCU in a three-day match at The 1st Central County Ground.

Head coach, Jason Gillespie has named a 12-man squad for the first-class match, with Luke Wells back in contention.

From the group of 13 named ahead of the abandoned friendly against Hampshire, Adam Barton and Danny Briggs are omitted.

The match will be Ben Brown’s first match in charge as permanent club captain.

Play gets underway at 11am on all three days and entry to the ground is free.
