Sussex Sharks vs Yorkshire

Across to Neath, up to Durham and then back home to Hove; it's been a frantic start for Paul Farbrace's Sussex Sharks in the Metro Bank One Day Cup who, on Sunday, will host Yorkshire looking to get their campaign up and running.

Yes, a difficult start: two losses from the opening two matches that housed myriad positives from the youthful Sharks side. Friday's defeat to Durham - who featured a wealth of experienced players, including Ben Stokes - shone the light on young Charlie Tear who, despite battling cramp, muscled his way to a remarkable total of 118 from 112 deliveries.

Chasing 353 - an innings that witnesses a brilliant Alex Lees century and a vintage Stokes cameo of 73* from 51 balls - the Sharks started brightly in response, putting on 113 runs for the opening partnership. Tear remained for the majority, before his departure ignited a tumble of wickets as Sussex were bowled out for 280.

So, home soil. Yorkshire head to Hove for a sunny Sunday fixture, with victory for both sides proving imperative.

Team News

Dom Goodman suffered a hamstring injury at Durham, and was forced to use George Thomas as a runner as a result. He's the only absentee from the previous two squads.

Nantes Oosthuizen and Freddie Price both made their professional debuts on Friday, both picking up wickets in the process. Sean Hunt, despite being in the squad for both matches, has yet to feature in the competition, and will be pushing for a start at Hove on Sunday.

The Opposition 

A win and a defeat for Yorkshire thus far in this year's instalment of the One Day Cup, they journey down to Sussex on the back of a narrow two-wicket win at Neath two days after the Sharks succumbed to defeat there - chasing down Glamorgan's total of 186 with just eight balls to spare.

A closely-fought win, but an important win. For the game prior saw them comfortably defeated by Hampshire up in Scarborough, despite Will Luxton and George Hill registering half-centuries. Runs were in short supply at Neath on Friday, though it was Finlay Bean's unbroken effort of 43* that just about got them over the finishing line.

Four wickets on Friday, two on Wednesday; Yorkshire's Ben Cliff leads the line currently with the ball, taking six wickets at an average of 14.6.
