Sussex Sharks vs Middlesex Women

Sussex Sharks Women take on Middlesex Women at Arundel Castle Cricket Club this Sunday (2 August) as they look for a third-straight win in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

It was a fantastic victory for Alexia Walker's side last time out. After more than a two month break from the 50 over competition, the Sharks made the trip to South Wales and defeated the league leaders Glamorgan on their home patch.

Bowling first in Neath, the wickets were shared between Bella Johnson (3), Anna Buckle (3), Chiara Green (2) and Poppy Tulloch (2), as the Sharks restricted the Welsh county to 239 from just 45 overs. With the bat, openers Izzy Collis and Mollie Adams got the chase off to a positive start, before Phoebe Wilkinson top-scored with 53. Green and Johnson added a valuable 68 runs for the sixth wicket, before Tulloch and Buckle saw the team home to ensure victory by two wickets.

Coupling that victory with the previous win at Northamptonshire away, the Sharks are now targeting a third-straight win in the competition as they host second-placed Middlesex at Arundel on Sunday. With just three games to go, victory tomorrow would put the Sharks in a strong position as they look to qualify for the semi-finals.

Alexia Walker has named an unchanged 13-player squad for the contest against Middlesex at Arundel.

Squad: Mollie Adams (wk), Anna Buckle, Izzy Collis, Kali-Ann Docherty, Chiara Green (c), Nancy Harman, Bella Johnson, Anna Lewis, Faye Mullins, Shristi Patil, Talitha Stanley, Poppy Tulloch, Phoebe Wilkinson.

The Opposition

Despite having only played four games, Middlesex are second in the table and just three points behind the leaders Glamorgan with a game in hand.

They had won three out of three matches before last weekend, when they were beaten by two wickets away at Kent.

Captain Saskia Horley is the joint-third leading wicket taker in the competition, with 11 wickets to her name. She is also Middlesex's second-top run scorer, with only Riva Pindoria ahead of her.
