Sussex Cricket statement relating to National Minimum Wage

6 Jul 2018

Sussex Cricket are aware that we have been listed on a press release from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy in relation to underpayment by employers.

In our case this related to fees paid to trialists playing in our second team which did not equate to the national minimum wage when travel to and from the fixtures in question was taken into account.

There were two individuals involved and the total amount equated to £1,087.81. The individuals involved have subsequently received additional payment to ensure they were paid at least the national minimum wage for the time they spent playing and travelling to and from matches.

Sussex Cricket are committed to meeting all requirements under National Minimum Wage legislation.
