A twelve-man squad has been named for Sussex’s first-class opener against Cardiff MCCU starting at The 1st Central County Ground on Sunday.
Apart from Jofra Archer who is playing for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, head coach Jason Gillespie has had the whole squad to pick from.
Danny Briggs is rested, but otherwise Gillespie has said the team selected for the three-day game will be fairly similar to that picked for Sussex’s first Specsavers County Championship fixture against Leicestershire next Friday.
Chris Jordan is available for the start of the first-class season for the first time since 2014.
Sussex’s preparations for the season have gone to plan so far. After four one-day wins on tour in Cape Town, the team had the better of their two day matches against first division sides Hampshire and Kent earlier this week.
Four Sussex batsmen scored half-centuries in those red-ball warm-ups, while Harry Finch and Luke Wright made centuries. The county’s bowlers have taken 31 mainly top-order wickets in 171.5 overs.
