After being inserted, Sussex were dismissed for 225 in their first innings half-way through the second day after rain had reduced day one to just 27 overs. Kenyan international, Irfan Karim top-scored with 47.
In reply, Surrey reached 153 for 3 before declaring. Abi Sakande was the pick of Sussex’s bowlers, taking two wickets and conceding only 38 runs in his 14 overs. Danny Briggs was economical as well, giving away 32 runs from his 16 overs.

That left Surrey requiring 235 in just under two sessions, but any hopes of an unlikely victory for the visitors were dashed as Sakande and Jordan Shaw reduced them to 20 for 3 with the new ball.
Jordan Clark and Angus Lovell steadied the ship with a fourth wicket partnership of 49, before Sakande struck again.
There was time for one more wicket – Lovell lbw to Tom Haines for 35 – before handshakes arrived with Surrey on 98 for 5.
