Sussex were beaten by seven wickets in a weather-affected Second Eleven Trophy match against Surrey at New Malden on Friday.
Batting first, Sussex slumped to 43 for six, before a 112-run seventh-wicket partnership between loanee Eddie Barnes (50) and Canterbury High School pupil Edward Taylor added some respectability to the card.
Taylor made 86 from 83 balls as Sussex were bowled out for 205 in 47 overs.
Barnes, Delray Rawlins and Elliot Hooper took a wicket each with Surrey reaching 157 for 3 before weather intervened to hand the home side victory via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.
