1 Jun 2018
Sussex Boys' Academy player, Tom Clark, scored a fifty in Sussex's first innings

Sussex suffered a seven-wicket defeat against Kent in their latest three-day Second Eleven County Championship match at The 1st Central County Ground.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Sussex made 265-7 declared in 77 overs. Tom Haines (50), Academy player Tom Clark (55) and trialist Aneesh Kapil (53) each made fifties.

In reply, Kent made 103-2 before declaring after 29 overs. Stuart Whittingham picked up both the visitors’ wickets.

Sussex then collapsed to 65 all out in their second innings as Ivan Thomas took 5-15 from seven overs.

Requiring 227 for victory, Kent reached their target for the loss of three wickets thanks largely to an unbeaten century from Harry Came.
