Laurie Evans scored 63 on the final day of Sussex Seconds' combined friendly with Hampshire and Surrey, as wet weather ensured the match ended in a draw.
Sussex, combined with Essex, were bowled out for 221 in their first innings. George Garton was the pick of the Sussex contingent with the bat, scoring 31, before dismissing Joe Weatherley and Ryan Patel early on day two, but stormy conditions took their toll on the surface and play was stopped for the day.
Day three was not much better, with showers throughout the day, but Sussex duo Delray Rawlins and Garton combined to dismiss Tom Alsop and earn the left-armer his third wicket of the match.
Surrey man Will Jacks responded with an excellent 101, but after being trapped LBW, the rain began to fall again and Hampshire/Surrey eventually declared on 357/9.
After a delayed start on day four, Sussex's Tom Haines opened the batting with Essex's Aron Nijjar but could only make 16. Evans fared better, batting assuredly to reach 63 off just 56 balls, but once again the poor weather interrupted play and after the Sussex man was dismissed, play was abandoned.
