Carla Rudd scored a half-century on her return to the Sussex Women side following her move from Berkshire during the off-season.
The 25-year old wicketkeeper-batter made 55 as a young side missing a number of first team regulars narrowly lost their pre-season friendly against Chichester Priory men’s second eleven at Goodwood by 27 runs on Saturday.
Batting first, Chichester made 201 for three from their forty overs. There were run outs for Chiara Green and Amie Anderson, while left-arm seamer Hollie Young picked up a wicket via a Rudd stumping.
A 52-run second-wicket partnership between skipper Georgia Adams (43) and Ella Wadey (12) and a 65-run fifth-wicket stand between Rudd and Nancy Harman (23) took Sussex to 134 for 4 in the 27th over, but the team then lost their last six wickets for 70 runs to be bowled out for 174 in the penultimate over.
