Phil Salt returns to the Sussex Sharks squad for Wednesday night's Vitality Blast clash against Surrey, as Luke Wright's side look to bounce back from defeat against Essex Eagles.
Salt was called-up to England's ODI squad as reserve for the Australia series, but has now returned to Hove for the remaining matches in this year's Blast.
The squad is otherwise unchanged from Monday's loss, with play set to get underway at The Kia Oval at 18:30pm on Wednesday evening.
Sussex Sharks squad to face Surrey:
Luke Wright (C)
Will Beer
Ravi Bopara
Danny Briggs
Ben Brown
Jack Carson
George Garton
Calum MacLeod
Stuart Meaker
Tymal Mills
Delray Rawlins
Ollie Robinson
Phil Salt
Aaron Thomason
David Wiese
After taking career-best T20 figures during Monday’s defeat to Essex Eagles, Delray Rawlins said: "They set us a pretty big score.
"It was a good wicket but we lost key wickets at the wrong time, just as we were building momentum. We still feel we’re in a good place as a team.
"Aaron Thomason has come in at the top of the order and shown the real depth of the squad with, 40 odd. On another day his shots would have gone to the left or right of the fielders and he would have finished up with 60 or 70, and we win.
"Everyone’s a bit disappointed, but it was always going to be a tough chase."
The opposition
Surrey go into Wednesday night’s match in fantastic form after four wins in a row propelled them to the top of the South Group.
Gareth Batty’s side reached the summit on Monday night when they beat London rivals, Middlesex by 30 runs.
Will Jacks was the Man of the Match at Lord’s with a quickfire 55 and a tight spell with the ball, and the young all-rounder also impressed against Essex Eagles in the previous match as Surrey won a thriller off the last ball.
Surrey endured a frustrating start to the 2020 Vitality Blast when the return fixture against Sussex Sharks was abandoned due to rain and they tied their second match against Essex at The Kia Oval.
Kent Spitfires then beat them by five wickets in the third fixture, but consecutive wins against Hampshire and Middlesex kick-started their impressive form.
Hashim Amla is Surrey’s leading run-scorer with 182 and a high score of 75, while with the ball, Daniel Moriarty leads the way with 11 wickets.
