There were five wickets for Ollie Robinson on his return to action during Sussex drawn Second XI Championship match against Middlesex this week.
Robinson bowled 12 overs in Middlesex’s first innings after the hosts had won the toss and batted at Uxbridge CC. He finished with 2 for 32, while Will Beer took four top order wickets as Middlesex were bowled out for 297.
Opening the batting, captain Beer top-scored with an unbeaten 48 during Sussex’s reply of 158 for 7 declared.
Robinson took all three wickets as Middlesex declared their second innings on 158, setting 298 for victory.
Sussex reached 70 for 1, before four wickets for 26 runs put them in trouble. A resolute 162-ball 59 not out from trialist Joe Cooke with support from Abi Sakande (18 off 58 balls) and Adam Barton (3 off 71) balls saw Sussex reach 209 for 9 and secure the draw.
