6 Apr 2021

Sussex Cricket Foundation is delighted to welcome world-renowned bat and equipment manufacturer, Newbery as title sponsor of the county’s junior cricket leagues. The three-year agreement also sees Newbery continue to supply cricket balls to the junior leagues and the finals of the Foundation’s school competitions.

During their sponsorship, Newbery, who will provide equipment for the Foundation to distribute to their network of cricket clubs and schools across Sussex. Young people playing in the junior leagues or involved in the Foundation’s community initiatives will also be entitled to discounted equipment from Newbery, through the Heritage Card scheme which sees club members receive 15% off purchases and Newbery donating 5% of purchases back to clubs.

Gary Wallis-Tayler, Sussex Cricket’s community director said, “I am delighted to be working in partnership with Newbery. Their sponsorship will be of benefit to all our affiliated clubs, schools and young cricketers across the county.”

“Continuing to support young cricketers of all ages and abilities throughout the pandemic and beyond is important to us all at Sussex Cricket and to have the support of Newbery Cricket will help maximise our impact.”

Andy Miller, Newbery Cricket’s managing director, said, “We are delighted and proud that the Sussex Cricket Foundation has chosen Newbery to be the title sponsor and ball supplier for the Sussex junior cricket leagues.

“This will be the eighth season that we have supplied balls for junior cricket in Sussex and we are looking forward to working even more closely with the Sussex Foundation to help ensure that the game thrives locally, particularly given our existing and historical links with the county.”

Entries into all this summer’s SCF junior competitions for boys & girls have increased with fixtures being released last week off the back of the Government announcement confirming the return of recreational sport. A new-look website using the ECB Play Cricket system has been created to assist with the administration of each league and competition. The site will go live in the coming days.

Matt Parsons, Sussex Cricket Foundation Territory Manager and Junior Cricket Lead said, “Newbery have an unmatched tradition for cricket in Sussex and their support within the South Area Junior League in recent years has now been expanded across all four leagues and all our Junior Cup and participation events.

“Their support for all our initiatives is massively beneficial to both our clubs and players alike and this partnership will only strengthen that support and broaden the opportunities it'll give all the young cricketers across Sussex”.
