Michael Burgess will spend the rest of the winter playing for Adelaide University CC in South Australian Premier Cricket.
The wicketkeeper-batsman arrived in the City of Churches on Thursday and is set to make his first appearance of the Australian summer on Saturday when the Blacks welcome Prospect CC to their Park 12 home ground.
Burgess will remain with AUCC until joining up with the Sussex squad for their pre-season tour to Cape Town in March.
This will be the 24-year-old’s second spell with Adelaide University. Burgess played 17 matches across all three formats for the club last winter, helping them to the grand finals of both the state T20 and one-day competitions.
He averaged 47.8 with the bat, including top-scores of 72 in T20s, 74 in one-day cricket and 118 in two-day matches, and made 22 dismissals behind the stumps.
