Following on from securing an £800,000 IPL deal over the weekend, Jofra Archer has been named in the Big Bash team of the tournament.
The 22-year-old has taken 15 wickets in ten matches for Hobart Hurricanes, with an economy rate of 7.5 and a strike rate of just 15.7.
His best bowling of 3-15 came in a win against Adelaide Strikers on
Jofra has also wowed with some outrageously skillful fielding.
The team of the tournament is selected by the Big Bash’s official website, which said the following of Jofra’s inclusion:
“The surprise packet of the tournament, Archer wouldn't have even played in the BBL this season had Hobart's original overseas signing Tom Curran not earned a call-up to England's Ashes squad. But the England-based Bajan allrounder grabbed his chance and his now being spoken about as an international player in waiting. Fast and dangerous with the new ball and frugal at the death, Archer produced some breathtaking fielding performances as well as some handy hitting late in the order. The complete package at T20 level ... and he's still only 22 years old.”
Jofra’s Hurricanes have made it through to the semi-finals of the Big Bash. They play Perth Scorchers in Perth on Thursday morning, UK time.
