Sussex star Jofra Archer produced another bowling masterclass in the IPL on Sunday night, but could not prevent his Rajasthan Royals side from slipping to defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Archer shone on his debut last week, inspiring the Royals to a thrilling win over Mumbai Indians by taking three wickets in five balls, and was the pick of the team's bowlers once again this weekend.
The Sussex man worked his magic to restrict Sunrisers to 151-7, taking 3-26, and was unlucky not to have even better figures after seeing Kane Williamson dropped off his third ball of the match.
Despite that setback, Archer responded brilliantly to bowl Shakib Al Hasan with the perfect yorker, and grabbed his second and third wicket shortly afterwards, having Yusuf Pathan caught at third man and then dismissing his new Vitality Blast teammate Rashid Khan with the short ball.
However, having been set 152 to win, the Royals struggled against the Sunrisers bowling attack. After Khan had Jos Buttler caught on the boundary, the Jaipur team could never accelerate the chase and ultimately fall 11 runs short of their target, as the men in orange went to the top of the Indian Premier League.
