James Coles selected for England Lions 50-over Squad

Sussex's James Coles has received a call-up for England Lions' 50-over squad ahead of their upcoming tour of the Caribbean in November.

England Lions have named two squads for the 50-over and T20 series in the Caribbean, with Coles named in the 17-strong 50-over squad that commences on Saturday, 7 November.

This announcement comes shortly after Coles' selection for the England IT20 squad for the upcoming series in Australia, which starts at the end of November.

A busy couple of months ahead, then, for Coles who has just received an ECB Development Contract for 2026-27, and will fly out to the Caribbean soon ahead of five ODI matches against West Indies A.

Rew, Eddie Jack and James Coles will fly out for that series after the Lions’ third match of their 50-over series in St Kitts and Nevis.

Worcestershire’s Adam Finch is the one uncapped Lions player in the squad.

England Lions Head Coach, Jonathan Trott, said: “I’m excited to get to work with a hugely talented group of players starting with this white-ball tour of the Caribbean.

“I’ve spoken about how important the Lions was in my career and now it’s my role to help prepare younger players for what lays ahead of them in international cricket.

“I also want to create a culture where England players will benefit from coming back and working in this environment to push for national team selection across formats and by performing and helping the Lions to win games of cricket.

“This squad has a mix of Centrally Contracted and Development Contract players which reflects some of the highest performing and most precious talent around the game.”
