A hundred for George Garton saw Sussex chase down a hefty target and complete a five-wicket win over Leicestershire in their latest three-day Second Eleven Friendly at Blackstone Academy Ground, sponsored by Hurstpierpoint College.
Sussex had been set 341 for victory on the final day after declarations from both sides had set up a chase. At 183-5, Leicestershire looked on course for victory, but a 160-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Garton and Nick Oxley (66*) rescued Sussex.
Earlier in the match, Leicestershire scored 417-6 declared having won the toss and elected to bat. Sussex Academy seamer Will Collard took four wickets.
Sussex had reached 77-2 in their first innings, before the sides agreed to keep the game alive by ending Sussex’s first innings early and Leicestershire by forfeiting their second innings entirely.
