George Garton forced to withdraw from England Lions tour

8 Feb 2018

A side injury has forced Sussex’s George Garton to return early from the England Lions’ tour of the Caribbean.

The left-arm quick aggravated the injury in the preparations for the Lions’ warm-up match in Jamaica, in which he bowled only five overs.

Garton will miss the rest of the red-ball section of the tour, as well as the white-ball leg next month.

A decision is yet to be taken on whether the 20-year-old will still take part in the ECB’s North-South Series in Barbados in the second half of March.

Garton will be replaced in the Lions squads by Northamptonshire fast bowler, Richard Gleeson.
