George Garton will now join the England Lions for both the red-ball and white-ball sections of their forthcoming West Indies tour, following the call up of Surrey’s Sam Curran into England’s T20 squad.
The left-arm quick, who spent time in Australia before Christmas with both the Lions and England, had originally been selected for the white-ball section of the Lions tour, with a three-match one-day series against West Indies A in Antigua from March 6-11.
But following Curran’s elevation into the England squad for the T20 Tri-Series against Australia and New Zealand, the selectors have invited Garton to join the full Lions tour.
The squad leave for Jamaica next Wednesday (31st January), ahead of four-day matches against West Indies A in Trelawny from February 11-14, and at Sabina Park in Kingston from February 18-21.
The Lions then head for Antigua for a third four-day match before switching their focus to white-ball cricket.
