Four Sussex players will feature in next weekend’s Indian Premier League (IPL) auction.
Jofra Archer, Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills & David Wiese will be available for purchase by one of the eight IPL franchises during the two day auction on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th January.
Archer is included in the auction’s ninth set of players to go under the hammer: the first group of uncapped [at international level] all-rounders.
The 22-year-old has a reserve price of INR 40 lakhs – around £45,000 – but is widely expected to sell for much more thanks to his stunning performances for Hobart Hurricanes in Australia’s ongoing Big Bash League (BBL).
Jordan will come up for sale as part of the 24th set of players: the third group of capped all-rounders. His reserve price is set at INR 100 lakhs, around £113,000.
Jordan was part of the Northern Districts Knights team that won New Zealand’s Super Smash T20 competition on Saturday. The 29-year-old has already played in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and T10 League this winter, and is set to feature in England’s IT20 tri-series against Australia and New Zealand and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) ahead of the IPL.
Jordan had a brief experience in the IPL last year, featuring in one match for the Sunrisers.
Mills is included in set 26: the third pool of capped fast-bowlers in the auction. His reserve price is also set at INR 100 lakhs.
Mills was the subject of numerous headlines after last year’s auction during which he was bought for INR 12 crore (£1.4 million) by Royal Challengers Bangalore. He went on to play five matches for the franchise in the 2017 IPL.
The left-arm quick is currently part of the same Hobart Hurricanes team as Jofra Archer.
Wiese has a reserve price of INR 50 lakhs (around £56,500) and will be part of the sixth group of capped all-rounders and the 46th set of players overall to come up for sale next weekend.
The South African featured in the 2015 and 2016 editions of the IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He is currently playing domestic cricket in South Africa and is part of the Karachi Kings squad, alongside fellow Sussex man, Luke Wright, in the forthcoming PSL.
A total of 578 players are included in this year’s IPL auction with 182 slots to be filled. The tournament gets underway on Wednesday 4th April and lasts until Sunday 27th May.
