Derbyshire Falcons vs Sussex Sharks Men

1 Aug 2026

Sussex Sharks Men head to Derby this Sunday (2 August) as they target back-to-back wins in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

Victory last time out for the Sharks, and what a performance it was, in front of a packed crowd at Arundel Castle Cricket Club. A much needed win indeed, to get off the mark in the competition.

Bowling first, for the fourth time in four matches, the six wickets picked up by the Sharks were taken by six different bowlers, as Essex made 316/6. In reply, Charlie Tear and George Thomas got the Sharks off to a positive start, with Tear top-scoring with 73. Jack Leaning and Jack Carson both pitched in with half-centuries, putting on 99 for the fifth wicket, before Fynn Hudson-Prentice came in to score the winning runs in the final over.

They now head to Derbyshire, looking for back-to-back wins to climb the Group B table.

Team News

Head Coach Paul Farbrace has provided an update on Sussex's injury situation, with eight players currently unavailable for selection. Tom Haines (side), Oli Carter (hamstring), Tom Clark (knee), Danny Lamb (neck/back), John Simpson (knee), Dom Goodman (hamstring), Tom Price (side) and Fynn Hudson-Prentice (quad) are all sidelined.

Couple that with the six Sussex players featuring at The Hundred and that leaves Farbrace without 14 of his squad members at this moment in time.

However, the squad will be bolstered by the return of Henry Crocombe, who has been released by London Spirit to be able to play for the Sharks at Derby tomorrow.

Squad: Carson (c), Crocombe, Henry, Ibrahim, Johnson, Kirtley, Leaning, Munt, Oosthuizen, F Price, Robinson, Tear, Thomas
