David Wiese has added the forthcoming Pakistan Super League to his winter agenda after being selected by Lahore Qalandars in today’s replacement draft.
The draft allows franchises to replace players who have become wholly or partially unavailable for the tournament since being selected previously.
Wiese, along with South African compatriot, Hardus Viljoen, are the Qalandars’ replacements for AB de Villiers, Carlos Braithwaite and Corey Anderson who are now only partially available.
The 2019 PSL is scheduled to run from Thursday 14th February until Sunday 17th Match. The group stages will be played in the United Arab Emirates, while the qualifying rounds, eliminators and the final will be played in Lahore and Karachi in Pakistan itself.
David has caught the Qalandars’ eyes with his recent performances in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League where he is playing for Khulna Titans. In his six matches, the all-rounder has hit 146 runs at a strike rate of 157 runs per 100 balls and taken six wickets at an economy rate of 7.05 runs per over.
The 33-year-old is the fourth Sussex player to be picked for this year’s PSL. In November’s main draft, Laurie Evans was picked by Multan Sultans, Chris Jordan by Peshawar Zalmi and Phil Salt by Islamabad United.
