20 Jun 2018

Sussex’s Danni Wyatt smashed 56 from just 36 balls as England romped to a record-breaking victory over South Africa in the Vitality Women’s IT20 Tri-Series match at Taunton.

Wyatt and Kent’s Tammy Beaumont put on 147 for the first wicket as England scored 250-3 from their 20 overs, the highest total in the history of women’s IT20s.

Beaumont scored 116 off just 52 balls. Her hundred came off 47-balls, making it the second fastest in women’s IT20 history.

South Africa could only muster 129-6 from their 20 overs, handing England a 121-run win, the biggest margin of victory in terms of runs in the history of the format.

England’s next matches in the series come on Saturday when they’ll take on South Africa and New Zealand in a double header also at Taunton

Three Sussex players – Georgia Elwiss, Sarah Taylor and Wyatt – are in the squad for the tri-series.
