Sussex all-rounder, Chris Jordan made his 2018 IPL debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday night.
Playing alongside Sussex Sharks overseas player for this summer’s Vitality Blast, Rashid Khan, Jordan was part of the side that lost by 15 runs to Kings XI Punjab in Chandigarh.
During a Kings XI innings of 193-3 that saw Chris Gayle blast a 63-ball 104, Jordan finished with the commendable figures of 0-31 from four overs.
Of the Sunrisers bowlers, only Indian international Bhuvneshwar Kumar had a better economy rate than Jordan.
Jordan opened the bowling, conceding just two runs from his first over. His second over went for 12 runs as Gayle started to target the boundaries.
CJ returned to the attack in the 13th over and conceded only four runs. His final over came when Gayle was on 84 from just 52 balls and went for 13 runs.
It was a very rare off-night for Rashid Khan who took 1-55 from his four overs.
Neither of the Sussex men made it out to bat, as Sunrisers made 178-4 from their twenty overs. It was the team’s first defeat of this year’s tournament. They sit in second place in the table.
