Alan Caffyn, a past President of Sussex and Chairman from 1990- 1997, has died aged 84.
He loved cricket and Sussex cricket especially, both as a player- an outstanding wicket- keeper for Eastbourne- and in his diligent non- executive roles with the club.
Indeed, in the early days of sponsorship, Caffyns plc. under Alan's direction provided the players with a fleet of cars, the most notable being a white Jaguar of which Tony Greig was the proud driver.
Alan played an important and informative part in the progress and development of Sussex cricket for more than 20 towards the turn of the century.
